There's no question that Bikram Choudhury is a big personality - like so many entrepreneurs including Richard Branson and Larry Ellison. Here's one of Bikram's famous - and most controversial - quotations. There are those who deride Bikram's style (and hence the style of his teachers) as too militant. I prefer to think of it as bringing more intention and focus to the practice.
Nevertheless, a number of hot yoga studios copying the 26 poses but marketing themselves as "kinder, gentler" have begun popping up. One of the most popular is Core Power Yoga, which mixes other styles into their class schedules.
